Keeping Up with the W's

Hello folks! I see that I haven't posted here about my "finger accident". In case you didn't see my photos on facebook, I will fill you in:

Last Wednesday, I was chopping some frozen cheese. I was using a really HUGE chef's knife. I was in a hurry. I was frustrated because Ryan wasn't home yet. All those things combined into...

Me cutting a small bit of my left index finger off. Sliced it right off. It wasn't gory - it wasn't down to the bone or anything. But it was bleeding a LOT. I ended up going to the ER (yes, I drove myself there) and the ER doc told me I couldn't get stitches because there was nothing to stitch together (duh, I already knew that.) So he put some Surgi-Seal on the wound and told me to keep pressure on it and keep it dry.

It's 10 days later now and I'm not even wearing a band-aid anymore. It's healing really nicely.

Last weekend was Labor Day. Ryan got the day off work (nice!) and we spent the day relaxing. Ryan barbecued drumsticks! YUM!

And John gobbled up some watermelon. Double Yum!

I'm also participating in the consignment sale going on down here. It's HUGE. here's a picture. This is just one small area of the convention center where it's being held:

All of those are just the Bouncers. That's not even counting the clothes, toys, furniture, shoes, and other baby gear. It's pretty insane. You can check out the story about it here (it was filmed back in 2008, but it was all filmed at the Fort Worth Location.) So far I've made $150 (that's my cut - I get 65%, they get 35%) and I hope to clear $200 when all is said and done. The sale goes on until 8pm Saturday 9/11.

We've had a busy week with scouts, school meetings, and just general busy-ness. RJ and Sarah are working hard to learn the Lord's Prayer and it's meanings & parts. It's really tough for them but we're trying to push them. I know they can do it. The hard part is listening to the, "But WWHHHYYYYY do I have to do it? Can't I just do it LLLLAAAAAATTTEEEERRRRRR?" So, clearly it's going to be a long weekend for me. ha ha

Have a great weekend, wherever you are!

Going to the Park

Hi Everybody! In case you're wondering why I've all of the sudden been posting a lot, well, it's because I've been taking pictures. A LOT of pictures.

I got a new camera! No, it wasn't cheap. And yes, Ryan said it was okay to get it! It's a Canon Digital Rebel XS. It's an entry-level DSLR which is good for me, since I'm not exactly a professional!

I love it. I love it. I love it. I'm hoping to start taking pictures at events for people, so that they can enjoy their event without worrying about the hassle of taking pictures. We'll see if I get any gigs! ha ha

So, here are a few pictures of our trip to the park today:

First Day of School!

Sarah started her new Intermediate School today (grade 5), and RJ and John went back to their Elementary school (grade 4 and grade 2). They weren't as excited to go back as I was, but what else is new?

Sarah was ready to go to school 30 minutes before she had to leave. It was killing her to wait for the bus!

The boys now have each other to depend on at school.

Little Sister thinks she's waiting for the bus too!

Here it comes!

Here's hoping the rest of the year goes off as smoothly as the first day!
